Election Procedures for Stewards’ Council Representatives (2) to Executive Committee

2 Nov 07 - Elections shall take place annually before the end of April.

Nomination period shall be two weeks prior to regularly scheduled April Stewards’ Council. Nominations will close immediately following Stewards’ Council in April.

Current elected Stewards with a continuing term of at least one year are eligible to stand.

Candidates for election shall submit written statements of their interest to serve. Statements of interest shall be circulated with the ballots. Where three or more candidates stand for Stewards’ Council Representatives to Executive Committee an option to reject all candidates shall be placed on the ballots.  Where two or fewer candidates stand for Stewards’ Council Representatives to Executive Committee a ratification ballot shall be conducted.

Current elected Stewards and one representative from each Recognized Caucus are eligible to vote. Elections shall be conducted by campus mail ballot. No proxy or email vote will be counted by the Returning Officer. No less than two weeks shall be allowed between the mailing of ballots and the deadline for returns.

Elected candidates shall assume office June 1 for a one year term.

When a Stewards’ Council Representative to Executive Committee position is vacant, notification shall be sent to the Stewards’ Council with a request for nominations. A by-election shall be held within three weeks of a nomination being received by the Returning Officer.
