but about themselves at risk, with reports of swarmings in parking
garages, dark deserted parking lots, long unlit building corridors after

7 Aug 07 - The ITUC (International Trade Union
Confederation) and ITF (International Transport Workers' Federation)
have called an International Day of Action for the release of Mansour
Osanloo and Mahmoud Salehi, two prominent trade union prisoners in Iran.
The Canadian Labour Congress is planning a Day of Action on Thursday
August 9.

Reaches Agreement in Principle

Last night
representatives from the University and the APBU signed an agreement in
principle thus ending the strike of non-academic staff and the lock-out
of unionized employees at Bishop's University. more...

23 Jul 07 - The Association of Professors
of Bishop’s University in Lennoxville remains under a media blackout
this morning as we wait to hear whether the faculty will be locked
out, to join the support staff who have been on strike for three
weeks now.

Bishop's University Strike
10 Jul 07 - The staff at Bishop's University are on strike. Bishop's
has an unusual situation, the only one in the country, where staff
and faculty are represented by the same union, in different units,
and the faculty, although not yet on strike, are out on the picket
lines supporting them. On strike, the staff are entitled to strike
support by the CAUT Defense Fund (now at $20 million), and on
Thursday 5 July, Louise Ripley, once again serving as one of YUFA's
representatives on this Board, travelled to Lennoxville to help CAUT
bring the million dollar cheque that they once brought to York in
1997.

Workshops
30 Apr 07 - Arthur Hilliker and Scott Forsyth are getting
their act together and taking it on the road. YUFA's President and 2006
/ 07 Chief Negotiator have been meeting with YUFA members across the
University, including the Chairs of many departments, to discuss
reductions in workload and teaching load flowing from the new Collective
Agreement.
