College Faculty Strike
7 Mar 06 - College faculty members have gone
on a province wide strike today. Seneca at York faculty are represented
by OPSEU Local 560 (www.opseu560.org),
which is organizing an information picket in front on the Stephen E.
Quinlan Building at 70 Pond Road (property leased by Seneca at York.
OPSEU 560 welcomes the support of YUFA members wishing to show solidarity by participating in their information picket. If you have time before or after your classes, your participation would be most welcome during any of the shifts, especially those between the hours of 8am – 11am and between 6pm – 8pm. Members should identify themselves to the Picket Captain upon arrival.
10 Mar 06 - The Executive of YUFA, York University's union of full-time professors and librarians, unanimously supports OPSEU's efforts to reach a fair and timely settlement during its current strike.
YUFA's Executive is especially concerned about two issues in OPSEU's strike: Quality of Education and Workload - in particular, smaller classes, more full-time teachers, and more time for teachers to help students.
