Information Bulletin Regarding the CAUT Inquiry

15 Sep 09 - CAUT recently announced that it has created an academic freedom inquiry regarding the recent York / Queen’s conference on Israel and Palestine (see attached announcement from CAUT). YUFA did not call for this inquiry nor was it consulted. YUFA was also unaware that discussions had been held between CAUT, the York Administration, and members of Osgoode Law School regarding the conference. On behalf of YUFA, as President, I did sign a letter endorsed by the YUFA Executive protesting the interference of the Federal Minister with SSHRC on the funding of the conference (attached).

President Shoukri has announced a parallel independent review on the same matter above, to be conducted by Frank Iacobucci.

Earlier, President Shoukri announced an independent inquiry on labour relations to be conducted by a distinguished third party (see attached).
