Planning for Remediation

20 Jan 09 – Many YUFA members have received messages from their Deans / Principal regarding plans for remediation.

The YUFA Caucus of the Joint Committee on the Administration of the Collective Agreement (JCOAA) would like to inform members of the following:

  1. If members are asked, and they choose to complete, the course of another faculty member who will be absent following the CUPE 3903 strike due to leave (notwithstanding Article 19.04; short-term leaves of up to one month) or retirement, it is YUFA’s position that these members should receive appropriate compensation.

  2. YUFA members are responsible for the academic aspects of the remediation of the courses they direct and these remedial actions are not subject to the approval of the Employer or designate, according to the Senate Executive Bulletin #6 (Revised January 8, 2009).

The YUFA Caucus of JCOAA will be raising issues regarding remediation with the Employer. To facilitate these discussions, we are seeking data from members. To that end, members  engaged in extra work to remediate their Fall or F/W course(s) are asked to complete this form and submit it to YUFA (yufa@yorku.ca or 261 HNES).
