YUFA Invites NEW FACULTY MEMBERS to Lunch ...

21 Sep 07 - YUFA is pleased to invite all new members who joined YUFA either this year or last to join us for lunch. We'd like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and let you know about the work we do.

We will be holding 2 luncheon events this academic year, one at the Keele campus and another at the Glendon campus. We will be discussing issues around tenure & promotion and salary & benefits. There will be a short presentation and then time for questions and answers on these and other topics of concern to our new members. This will also provide an opportunity for you to meet new colleagues from other disciplines.

Invitations will be sent via email several weeks before each lunch. We look forward to meeting you, sharing some lunch and refreshments, and answering your questions. For planning / catering purposes, we will ask that you RSVP.

If you have any questions about these events, please feel free to contact us at yufa@yorku.ca or at 416 736 5236.

  1. The 2nd lunch will be held on Wednesday, 30 January 2008, 12:00-2:00 at Glendon College in the Fireside Room 310, York Hall.

Candidacy & Tenure & Promotion

Topics to be covered are:

  • what the three areas of assessment mean, and how to count your own contributions to each – professional contribution and standing, teaching and service;
  • understanding the file preparation and adjudicating committees’ composition and function;
  • timeframes – who needs to do what when;
  • over-view of the process and your rights at every stage.
