YUFA Invites NEW FACULTY MEMBERS to Lunch ...

2 Feb 10 - YUFA is again hosting lunches for new members. If you have joined YUFA in the last three years, this is an opportunity to meet new colleagues from other disciplines as well as learn about such topics as Tenure & Promotion and Salary & Benefits.

We will be holding two luncheon events this Spring, one for members at the Keele campus and another for members at the Glendon campus.

Lunch at the Keele campus will be held on March 15, 2010.

Lunch at the Glendon campus will be held on March 22, 2010.

If you are interested in attending, please reply to yufa@yorku.ca by noon Monday, February 8. Once you have registered to attend we will provide you with the time and location.

Candidacy & Tenure & Promotion

Does the whole Candidacy, Tenure and Promotions process seem absolutely daunting to you? Wondering what you should be doing, and when? YUFA can help. 

Come to this informative, informal session. Enjoy lunch, meet members of the YUFA Executive and new colleagues and get some good advice and practical information.

Topics to be covered are:

  • a discussion of unit (department, school or faculty) standards;
  • what the three areas of assessment mean, and how to count your own contributions to each – professional contribution and standing, teaching and service;
  • understanding the file preparation and adjudicating committees’ composition and function;
  • timeframes – who needs to do what when; 
  • over-view of the process and your rights at every stage.
