December 2008 The meeting began at 1:05 p.m. Motion: That the minutes of the 19 November Special General Meeting be approved. Moved by: K. Stanworth; seconded by: G. Reaume. Amendment: That the final ‘0’ of ‘~$150,0000’ in the second motion be removed to read ~$150,000’ Carried. Motion: That YUFA Executive develop an SRC proposal that maintains a role for the units in the selection process, analogous to that part of the conversion program in which the hiring unit puts forward the name of the candidate, and that extends YUFA Affirmative Action criteria to the SRC program, and that YUFA present this proposal first to CUPE, and that after discussions with CUPE, the YUFA Executive may indicate to the Employer that YUFA has such a proposal. Moved by: L. Briskin; seconded by: D. Skinner. Carried. Motion: That YUFA adopt a stance of dignified neutrality during remainder of the strike. Moved by: G. Wu; seconded by: E. Lawee. Defeated: 57 for; 78 against. Resolution: Be it resolved that YUFA discuss with the Employer through JCOAA and with Senate Executive YUFA aspects of remediation at the conclusion of the CUPE 3903 strike. Carried. A. Hilliker agreed that YUFA Executive would solicit members’ concerns about remediation. Motion: That the Special General Meeting be adjourned. Carried: 59 for: 47 against.
