YUFA
Date: Friday, 16 June 2006 Time: noon Location: Computer Science & Engineering, Lecture Hall A (just north west of Ross Building) 13 Jun 06 - YUFA Executive Committee is calling this Special General Meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to reconsider the merits of the 7 June 2006 GMM motion to seek an injunction "against the forcible retirement of the July 1, 2006 retirement cohort until the conclusion of the current round of negotiations" in light of subsequent legal advice regarding the possible costs and likelihood of failure of the injunction. YUFA legal counsel will be present at the meeting. It should be noted that this motion was introduced without prior notice at the GMM and there was no opportunity for the YUFA Executive Committee to seek a legal opinion prior to the 7 June 2006 meeting. If the costs of seeking the injunction are high, it may be necessary to seek a special levy from YUFA members, as per Constitution 10.2, resulting in a higher annual membership fee for the 2006-2007 year. The legal opinion from our counsel on the matter may be viewed by YUFA members at the YUFA office (HNES 261). Please call ahead to arrange at ext. 55236. It is important that as many YUFA members as possible attend this meeting.
