Policy on Equity
12 Dec 07 – As one of YUFA’s Equity Officers, along
with Didi Khayatt, I maintain a watching brief on equity issues as a
member of YUFA’s Executive Committee and Stewards’ Council. YUFA’s
Collective Agreement speaks variously to issues related to equity:
“harassment”, “non-discrimination”, and “affirmative action” for
Aboriginal peoples, women, visible / racialized minorities, persons with
disabilities, and lesbians, gays and transgendered peoples. But equity
itself is complex and difficult to understand.

conference held on June 10-12, 2005 at OISE. The conference
focused on providing opportunites for community stakeholders,
researchers, educators, health practitioners and advocates to gather
information and knowledge and help shape an agenda of change and to
advance the public policy agenda in relations to urban health diversity.

members involved either in hiring committees or approving their
decisions. These new hired faculty members will replace retirees and
will add to the YUFA complement the extra positions the Employer has said
