YFS Condemns Racism at Toronto Universities
10 Nov 05 - York Federation of Students has asked YUFA to inform its members concerning the distribution of hate materials on Toronto campuses last week.

November 8, 2005 (Toronto) – The York Federation of Students (YFS) unequivocally condemn the distribution of hateful anti-Semitic materials on Toronto campuses last week. Students and staff at all three major campuses in Toronto - the University of Toronto, York University and Ryerson University – recently discovered hundreds of anti-Semitic pamphlets inserted into books in the campus libraries. 

"Students at York University are disgusted at the shameful display of hate on our campus” said Omari Mason, President of YFS. “Students at York have fostered a culture based on inclusion and tolerance and this incident is a clear attempt to break our multicultural mosaic.”

 “We must remember the braveness of students, faculty and staff as they face Anti-Semitism in their everyday life” said Ahmed Habib, Vice President Equity of YFS. Habib also students stand in solidarity with Hillel against anti-Semitism. “The amount of support we have received since this information has been made public has been very touching and overwhelming” said Adam Hummel President of Hillel.

The YFS will re-launch our on-going campaign of No Anti-Semitism, Islamaphobia and Racism. Materials in the form of posters, buttons and stickers that condemn Anti-Semitism, Islamaphobia and Racism can be picked up from the YFS office located on the third floor of the Student Centre. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to distribute and display materials to send a strong united message that hateful actions are unacceptable.
