Examination deferrals for SARS related reasons

In the event that students cannot write a scheduled exam and claim SARS or suspected SARS exposure, symptoms or quarantine as a reason for non-attendance, faculty are advised to require students to complete a Deferred Standing Agreement and to specifically note on the form that SARS is the reason for the deferral.  YUFA advises members to follow this formal procedure as a way of helping us to keep track of the growing number of deferral requests and the frequency of reasons being cited. The provisions for dealing with deferred examinations have been discussed with the employer. At YUFA's request, the faculty association is now represented on York SARS working groups.

Members with questions or concerns related to SARS and/or exam deferrals are encouraged to contact the YUFA office.
