New Faculty Luncheon Draws a Crowd

Dec 03 – Over sixty faculty members attended a December luncheon for
those hired at York in the past two years. The lunch was the first of
three YUFA sponsored meetings to which all faculty members who have joined
the university in the past two years are invited. YUFA President Susan
Dimock and YUFA staff person Monica Mulvihill explained to members the new
tenure and promotions process and they and other YUFA Executive members
and staff answered questions until the close of the meeting.
The
next lunch will be held on Wednesday, January 14 from 12:30 to 2:30 in the
Faculty Club. It will feature a brief talk on money and employment
benefits – what YUFA members are entitled to and how they can claim
benefits. The final luncheon will take plan on Tuesday, February 10 from
12:30 to 2:30 in the Founders Senior Common Room, 305 Founders College.
The final luncheon will feature a brief discussion of intellectual
property rights, academic freedom and rights and protections for faculty
members.
