YUFA-Employer Inclusivity & Diversity Task Force seeks
participants
The 2001-2003 collective agreement between YUFA and the Board of
Governors established a task force on inclusivity and diversity as a
sub-committee of the Joint Committee on the Administration of the
Agreement (JCOAA). In collaboration with the Institute for Social
Research, the task force plans to hold a series of discussion groups with
members of YUFA to explore barriers and facilitators experienced by York
faculty/librarians in their teaching, research and service and to identify
any issues that seem especially salient for women; visible/racial
minorities; gay men, lesbians, bisexuals and trans people; and
faculty/librarians with disabilities. The Institute will be writing
a descriptive report summarizing the issues raised in the
discussions. The Task Force will use the information to make
recommendations to the JCOAA about inclusivity and diversity. We are
seeking participants. We recognize that this is a busy time of year,
but would like to stress that this is an important opportunity to provide
your input on these issues. Confidentiality will be protected;
individuals will not be identified. The one-hour sessions will be
held between April 9 and 25 on the Keele campus. If you are willing
to participate, please contact Gill Teiman (gteiman@yorku.ca
or 55706) as soon as possible and not later than April 1. If you are
not able to participate, the task force encourages written submissions;
please send them to Gill Teiman (email or hard copy to 108 Central
Square). Thank you for your help. Barbara Dodge, Associate Dean, Fine
Arts (representing the Administration)
Gill Teiman, Special Assistant to the President (Equity) (ex-officio)
Jody Warner, Assistant Librarian (representing YUFA)
