Students don union gear at YUFA info table
16 Sept 02 - YUFA had
a table at the University's Student Information
Fair, held in the Vari rotunda
September 3rd to 5th. The intention was to make YUFA more
visible to students, educating them
about their rights as workers
and about unions in general. YUFA
got wonderful co-operation
from the Ontario Federation of
Labour, Canadian Union of Public Employees, United Steel Workers of
America, Ontario Public Service Employees Union, Communications Energy
& Paper workers Union, United Food & Commercial Workers, and
Service Employees International Union. All made generous
donations, including t-shirts,
caps, bags, key-chains, water bottles,
and literature about workers
rights and specific union campaigns. We gave out about 300 free items to
students. Keep an eye out for people wearing clothing with union
logos. Thanks to Brett and Monica
for helping with obtaining the union gear and
for helping at the table.
