Ratification information from Executive

In accordance with the Labour Relation Act and the YUFA Constitution, the YUFA Executive Committee will seek ratification of a renewal collective agreement based on the settlement reached between YUFA and the Board of Governors of York University on 2 August 2001.

The Executive Committee recommends that members vote in favour of accepting the proposed settlement. The Executive further urges all members to participate actively in the ratification process.

Ratification will take place at and following a General Meeting at which the matter is to be discussed.

The General Meeting held for this purpose will take place on Tuesday, 4 September 2001, from 1 to 4 in the Harry Crowe Room, Atkinson College.

Voting will continue on Wednesday 5 September 2001, from 10 to 3.  Members voting on Wednesday who are primarily appointed to a unit on the Glendon campus must vote at Glendon. All others voting on Wednesday must vote at the Vari-Ross link.

Assent to ratification shall be by a simple majority of those members of the bargaining unit voting.

Members presenting themselves to vote will be asked to show identification and will be required to sign for their ballots. Members will then be handed a ballot, which will read: 'I am in favour of accepting the proposed settlement', followed by spaces for indicating 'Yes' or 'No'.

Only ballots cast in person will be counted.

Results of the vote will be announced by 7 September 2001 by email, campus mail, and the YUFA website.
