Officers' Responsibilities Varied and Flexible

YUFA’s membership directly elects the Officer positions. The following descriptions are intended to give members’ an idea of the responsibilities and opportunities of each Officer position as well as the qualifications and compensation available. Where the position description is silent on qualifications it is intended that any member of the full-time academic staff and professional librarians whether on reduced load or leave is eligible.

Under YUFA’s Collective Agreement with the Board of Governors, service to YUFA is included within the definition of ‘service to the University’ for purposes of assessing a member’s workload and evaluating his/her performance (Art. 27.04(a)).

Candidates for election as Officers of the Association must submit written statements of their qualifications, goals, and interest in serving. Where two or more candidates stand for an Officer position, an option to reject all candidates is placed on the ballots. Where only one candidate is nominated for an Officer position, a ratification ballot is conducted. Candidate’s statements are circulated with the ballots.
